GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP - What Is Good Sportsmanship?
Good sportsmanship occurs when teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials treat each other with respect. Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the adults in their lives, especially their parents and their coaches. Kids who see adults behaving in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity whether they win or lose a game.

Sabino Canyon Little League and Tucson, A Brief History - In 1958 the first six leagues in Tucson were; DM AFB LL, Copper State LL, International LL, Western LL, Cactus LL, and Federal LL. Copper State LL was the Little League that served our area. Federal LL served the areas that are now Frontier LL and Canyon View LL. American LL was charted in 1959. In 1961 Palo Verde LL, Continental LL, Sahuaro LL, Catalina LL and Frontier LL were chartered. From 1961 to 1979 the area that is now Sabino Canyon LL was a part of Palo Verde LL. Palo Verde LL also included the area that is now Tanque Verde LL. Sabino Canyon LL & Tanque Verde LL were first chartered in 1979.The first president of Sabino Canyon LL was Darwin Herbst.

Message to Parents - Little League Baseball is an all volunteer project promoted and maintained by parent volunteers. If you are not involved helping out, get involved. So you don't know how or what to do? Ask one of the many SCLL board members hanging out at the park. They are the individuals wearing the white SCLL shirts (with blue collar) or the Ladies with the blue shirts and "Board of Directors" embroidered on the sleeve. Any one of these people will help you set up and run a scoreboard, help you keep score, show you how to get water for the team, or show you how to prepare a field for play. If you are willing to volunteer your time, we will show you how to contribute. It is rewarding. Just ask.
